  • Text My Homestay Experience In Singapore

I decided to try something different with my trip to Singapore this time. Instead of staying at a hotel, I have decided to try out the iBilik.com Singapore short term rental service. Now, I have to confess that i have never rented anything other than a hotel in all my overseas trips! Here is my experience…

I decided to place my booking 10 days before my flight date. I booked a room at a beautiful bungalow @ Bedok for S$85 / night for 2 nights. The host confirmed my booking 5 days later and I proceeded to make payment via PayPal. Once payment has been made, I was allowed to contact the host via email who then provided me with the location’s address.

When I reached Singapore, I checked into the house at 2pm. I paid a S$200 deposit. The house is spacious, clean and comes with a swimming pool in the garden! It also has Wi-Fi connection for guests to use. The room is clean and has air-cond. Finally, the host is friendly and helpful. The location is just 10 minutes walk from the Tanah Merah MRT station. I check out at 11am two days later and was returned the S$200 deposit.

    • Booking / Payment / Contact Host Experience: 7/10
    • Check-in / Staying / Check-out Experience: 9/10
    • Price Affordability / Property Description Authenticity: 9/10
    • Overall Experience: 8/10

In my humble opinion, the booking, payment and contacting host process can be further improved to encourage faster confirmation and email response from the host. But the price is really affordable when compared to normal 4-star hotel rates of $300 per night. Even a decent budget hotel costs at least $150 per night in Singapore these days. So, the cost savings alone is very good reason for me to try out the service again on my next trip to Singapore :)
